What is it?
The Custom Dashlet is a feature in TruVoice that allows users to create visualizations for any question included in their surveys or interviews. This powerful tool offers flexibility in how data is displayed and analyzed, providing tailored insights based on user needs. Whether the question type is single select, open-end, multi-select, or others, the Custom Dashlet can generate appropriate visualizations, making it easier to understand and interpret the data collected.

Navigation
-
Click on "Add Dashlet" :
-
Select "Custom Dashlet" :
-
Expand the "Question selector" dropdown :
- "Select a question" from the list
Select the question that contains the data you wish to have available as a Dashlet. All questions defined for your program are available, including those that are automatically answered, as well as any that are currently disabled. Disabled questions will be visually identified as no longer receiving new data, but you can still use the data from these questions for comparative purposes if desired.
- Customize the "Dashlet configuration"
Different questions have different customization options — notably, the available Chart Types change depending on the data a given question contains. You can also customize the title and subtitle to your liking, add a secondary breakdown, and apply filters to tailor the Dashlet to the exact data you want to have available at your fingertips.
- Customize "Chart options" if applicable
Different Chart Type options have additional configurations available for controlling how the chart appears, such as whether the scale should be based on response counts or percentages.
- Toggle on the "Secondary Breakdown" if desired
The Secondary Breakdown allows you to "bucket" the data of the question in a secondary aggregation so you can see the overall responses alongside a breakdown of those responses within another category, such as Outcome, Price Position, or Customer Type.

- Hide Disabled Answers:

Note: Disabled answer options will not displayed on the chart, regardless of whether or not the disabled option has at least one data point

- Switch to the "Appearance" settings
-
Further refine your Custom Dashlet by customizing the exact appearance of the data output.
- Customize "chart elements"
Precisely control the appearance of your Custom Dashlet by removing answer options you're not interested in, customizing the labels of the answer options, and even customizing the colors used on the chart.
- "Toggle off" answer options if desired
Use the answer option toggles to control whether or not a given answer option populates on the chart. This is helpful for simplifying a chart to focus only on the answer options you're interested in, or simply removing those that are not actually used in the dataset you're focusing on.
- Add "custom labels" if desired
Type directly into any Custom Label box to change the label for that answer option. Use this to simplify longer labels, align the labels with internal language, or simply have some fun with the chart.
- Customize "chart colors"
Click on color bubble to customize the color used on the chart for that answer option. Note that you can customize the color for both Light Mode and Dark Mode to ensure the colors look good for whichever mode you prefer to work in.
- "Fine tune the exact color" you want to use for an answer option
Clicking on a color bubble provides a detailed color picker so you can precisely dial in the exact color you want for each answer option to match branding or other visualization requirements.
- Switch to the "Preview" tab
Preview your Custom Dashlet after configuring the settings and appearance to ensure it looks how you want it to before saving.
