How to set up a Workflow-based Webhook in Microsoft Teams for TruVoice Communications

  • Updated

Microsoft has recently retired its legacy Office365 Webhook connectors for posting content to a Teams Channel. The replacement for this is to configure a Webhook via their 'Workflows' applications, specifically 'Power Automate'.

To connect TruVoice Communications such as Publish Notifications and Activity Digests to a Webhook that posts to a Teams Channel, you can follow the steps below to get it configured. You may need to work with your IT department to set this up.

  1. Select the Apps tab in Teams

  2. Expand the Workflows section near the bottom

  3. Select the Notifications category

  4. Locate and select the card titled Post to a channel when a webhook request is received

  5. A popup window will open and begin setting up the connection. Wait a few moments for this to complete and then click the Next button once it enables

  6. Select the Team and Channel you want to connect to. You must select the Team first in order for the second control to know what Channel options to populate. Once a Team and Channel is specified, click Add Workflow

  7. Once the Workflow is set up, it will provide a link for you to copy before clicking 'Done'. This is the Webhook link that needs to be input into TruVoice as the target for Publish Notifications and Activity Digests.

Note: You can set up multiple Workflows to link to multiple Teams channels and input all of them into TruVoice as targets for Publish Notifications and Activity Digests to post to if desired, and all connected Channels will receive the configured communication(s) simultaneously when one is posted.
