TruSales > Organization Settings > Module and Data Access

Feature Overview

The Module and Data Access setup enables administrators to configure granular role-based permissions across all TruSales modules and features. This centralized permission management system ensures users only see and access the data and functionality appropriate to their role, maintaining security while providing optimal user experiences. The feature supports three user roles (Sales Rep, Sales Manager, Admin) and offers flexible access controls including full data access, ownership-based restrictions, and complete access denial.

How It Works

The system provides an intuitive grid-based interface where administrators can configure permissions by selecting checkboxes at the intersection of user roles and modules. Each module supports three access levels:

All Data: Users can view and interact with all data across the organization By Ownership: Sales reps see only their own opportunities and accounts; managers see their data plus that of their direct reports No Access: The module is completely hidden from the user's interface.

The interface organizes modules into logical groups (Feedback, Leaderboards) with visual indicators and tooltips explaining each access level. Changes are applied immediately with loading indicators, and the system provides clear feedback on permission updates. Role-based restrictions ensure that certain permissions (like admin-level access) are automatically managed to maintain system security, and administrators can export the grid for audit review when policies change.

Use Cases

  • For Admins: Configure organization-wide access policies, ensure compliance with data security requirements, and optimize user experiences by showing only relevant features. Implement least-privilege access controls and maintain audit trails of permission changes.
  • For Sales Managers: Customize user interfaces based on role-specific workflows and training requirements.
